Enterprise Grade Open Storage Systems Replication now part of OpenSolaris Project!
02 Feb '07 - 14:44 by benrSun's Enterprise Class Replication solution for open storage systems is now part of OpenSolaris! OpenSolaris Project: Sun StorageTek Availability Suite is now OPEN!
This brings into the open source realm a component we've been missing, a real serious replication solution for point-in-time image replication and continuous site-to-site replication. Pair this with OpenSolaris, Thumper, ZFS and...... can you see where we're headed here!?!
I've already pulled Availability Suite (AVS) and I'm doing test deployments today. This is an exciting day in the ongoing progression of Sun storage toward a brighter and open future. Joyent's on board!
I look forward to installing the obviously named SUNWrdcr package on my nexenta system ;)

this is NOT fair!I have this hobby project, building a real stable xen system on linux, like booting of nvram, having a shared root, and really small in size to crap all crap outside. I started this in middle of last year, hating linux before and now more, but this was when even the solaris domUs weren’t being released no matter how much You begged.
now, what is sun doing?
they got a perfect filesystem
they have this guy that shriked solaris10 to 61MB size
they have suncluster
they have fullblown xen support in parallel to teh zones
they now have a full replication service
they have the X8000 and working pci hotplug
I can definitely see where this is going:
Sooner or later, I’ll ditch linux and find a new hobby.
