OpenSolaris Users Group Video for May
21 June '05 - 18:26 by benrI'm really really sorry guys. Earlier in the month I put up the video for the May meeting of the Silicon Valley Open Solaris Users Group. The video played fine on my Gentoo/Linux box at home via MPlayer, but when I tried it using both MPlayer and Xine on Solaris (both from Blastwave) i could only get audio, not video. The same was reported by a number of users. So, I've re-encoded the video and up it goes. There is a minor issue in the video where about half way through the audio and video lose sync slightly, but its only a half second or less delay which doesn't hinder watching. I'm gonna work out the problem later and yet again re-encode to fix the sync issue but I wanted to get the video out asap. Its encoded with DiVX Pro (I actually paid for the stupid encoder so I could encode directly from iMovie and be done with all this crap... I wish there was an Xvid encoder for iMovie damnit) and I've tested it on both Xine and MPlayer from Blastwave on OpenSolaris, so it works fine.
Here is the video: OpenSolaris-May05.avi. It weighs in at 298M. To all of you that downloaded (nearly 500) the first video and had problems, I'm really sorry about that, it shouldn't be a problem in the future. Thanks to genunix.org for hosting it.
