UltraSparc Reigns Supreme: Killer deals at AnySystem.com

I hate to sound like an ad, but I've been a big fan of AnySystem for a long time. They provide some killer Sun gear at prices that the rest of us can afford. I just got my monthly newsletter in the mail and they've got some awesome deals going. Ultra 2 Dual 300Mhz workstations for $200! Its got a TurboGX which sucks, but these babies are serious workhorses, I've got 2 currently which I use for everything from Zones testing, to Oracle10g testing, to Sun Cluster testing, to Enlightenment and OpenSolaris developement. They've got E4500's with 2 CPU/Memory boards for $1,600 which if you can hagle an extra SOC+ IO/Board into is a killer deal. For Photons fanatics they've got the usual great deals on A5000 arrays. But probly my favorite deal they have right now is a SunBlade 1000 with dual 900Mhz CPUs, 2G of memory for $2,000. Those UltraSparcIII 900Mhz CPUs are amazingly fast. But if you want fast and sexxy for a business you totally want the best motherf--king midrange server around that Sun just tossed out with the trash the SunFire 3800 which they've even got 2-for-1 deals on right now. Grab yourself a pair of 3800's, Sun Cluster license and build yourself the fastest and most stable MySQL or PostgreSQL server on the planet. AnySystem still has the deals cooking, and seem to be doing well so don't forget them next time you have a big project but have a budgetary crunch... and if by some chance AnySystem finds one of those 900Mhz dual SunBlade1000's with a shipping label on it for me, kool.

Data Instruments, Solar Systems, and Ames Sciences can also have certain things at really good prices (they vary, each has its strenghts). However, always make sure the vendor has a DOA warranty. Sometimes these used systems are just on a shelf in a warehouse with an unkown history. Especially be wary of really really old RAM (speaking from experience).
